no the newer barrels will not fit.
I've got a 1961 Model 110MC 30-06. Will the newer style barrels be a direct replacement, or will some smithing be required? The barrel now has the "hump" at the rear sight base.

I also have an older savage 110. Can anyone tell me why a newer barrel will not fit, is it not the same thread and shank size?
Rifles made before 1966 used a different bolt head and have a counter bore in the breech end of the barrel. New style take-off barrels will not work with out machine work.
To change the bolt head to a newer style would also require a new style bolt body and firing pin.
