Flip up iron/peep sights and scope rails

I recently purchased a Savage 111 FNHS in .308. In Cali i have the wonderful privilege of waiting 10 days to geek out about my purchase and get everything ready...

all sarcasm aside.

I'm looking for a rear sight that is a combination scope rail and flip up sight...is this something that's made? or would I need to machine a few parts to make it all fit? I've tried searching the forums for such a thing, but have failed rather miserably with a definitive answer.

Well, sort of. Look at the flip up sights for the AR-10 flat tops. They are designed to be used with Picatinny mounts.

Not sure how well it will work with your front sight.
