    Looking at a Model 99 300

I need some advice. I found a Savage Model 99. It's an "EG" I believe. It's chambered for 300 Savage and is in very good condition. Manufacture date is around 1950-51. The receiver has not been drilled tapped and the original Stith mount is the no drill type. The scope is a vintage Weaver K4. Finish is good and the stock has no cracks that I can see. The bore isn't "bright" but is solid with no pitting or roughness. I believe the wood is all original. The recoil pad is the only thing that I don't think is original. Seller wants around $700.00. is this a decent price. The stock and wood are nearly immaculate with little to no scratches and the blueing is 90%-95%. Thanks for your help

Buy it now. Stith mounts on ebay go forover 300 bucks. The scope is worth 150. Buy it if it is still there. Bill

Thanks guys. I pulled the trigger on this one and glad I did. Great shape and the stock had some interesting graining on it as a bonus. Thanks again for your advice. I'll try to post a photo later on.
