    5R Rifling

Is 5r rifling all its cracked up to be? Who makes savage pre-fits in this rifling and where can they be purchased?

The 5r rifling is a good thing. There are prefits for the Savage, I just can't remember who at the moment. Search the usual suspects, you'll run across one.

The 5r rifling is definitely beneficial, the design of the rifling helps the bullet create a better seal in the barrel which improves speed and helps reduce carbon buildup.

Any reputable barrel manufacturer should have some type of R formation rifling. I've shot everything from 3R to 6R. I've had luck with all of them. The type of rifling doesn't matter as much as a reputable barrel maker and gunsmith!
