    New Mark II Stud sizes

Well, just bought my first savage, a mark II! I've been wanting one for a LONG time! Well took it all apart to do the trigger shim, clean it etc... I took the rear stud out of the trigger housing and it was extremely tight, when it came out, looked like some loctite type stuff was used on it from the factory. Well I went to put it back in, and looks like the top two threads are stripped in the receiver.... VERY frustrating. I'm wondering if anyone knows the size of this stud, i'm assuming so far its the unobtanium 12-32. I'm going to work on it again saturday, but right now pretty disappointed.

Did you buy the rifle new? If so it should be under warranty. However, Savage has been using the Accu-trigger on the Mark II's for a few years now.

If it is used, somebody else had the same problem. That's why the Loctite is there. I have never seen any factory applied thread locker on any Savage actions screws.

Yes, it was purchased brand new, it was only the rear stud that had anything on it. It looked to be a reddish color when I took it out. Thanks for the reply though, I greatly appreciate it!
