I didn't know Stevens had a heavy barrel model.

I bought the heavy barrel at Gander Mountain as a package deal with scope last year, I also have the standard Stevens 200 in .243. The heavy barrel models may have been ordered special by Gander Mountain because like you I didn't know they existed until I saw it on the shelf.

As a side note the standard weight Stevens 200 .243 barrel shoots extremely well also, and shoots much better than the new Remington 700 POS I bought a few months later. >

Below the stock .223 heavy barrel Stevens 200 at the top of the photo and a new Remington 700 that isn't half the gun they use to be.

How heavy is that barrel at the muzzle? Is it a straight 1" or does it taper?
    Cheers...

At that taper, it would be very similar to the A&B F54 contour. Hmmm ... you know I bought x2 Stevens 200s in full knowldge that the barrel swapping caper was addictive ... I wish someone had of told me exactly 'how' addictive it is. ;D I seem to be collecting more and more barrels. ;D :D
