I've got a 6.5x284 light varmint CBI barrel, 26" 1-8 twist that shoots well (0.4"@100 yrds) with 49.5 gr RL-17 (3045 fps) and 140gr Berger VLD's at the lands. This is a fairly new load I worked up for hunting and I have not done any fine tuning. But right now it has beat out 48.0 gr of H4350 in terms of accuracy and velocity.
are you useing mag primers because i have lost about 100fps same load as savage barrel and just cant get acurate as old barrel was shooting 50 to 52grs 4831sc ccibr2 primes lapua139s jambed at about3100fps now im lucky to get 2900
I'm using the same bullets and powder, 139 scenars and H 4831sc. I'm running 50.5 grs of powder. I am using a different primer, the Fed match Lg rifle. I have not had as good of consistency with the CCI's. I know each rifle is an individual, and I'm shooting a McGowen 30" 1-8" . I'm running right at 3050 fps, and I can't get near that 52 gr load in my rifle. I'm also using Lapua brass.
12F, McGowen 6.5x284 1-8" twist, Nightforce 12-42x BR
BVSS, McGowen barrel, 22-250 1-9" twist, Nikon 6-18x
16 FHLSS Weather Warrior, Sinarms 257 Roberts, Pentax 3-9
Stevens 200, 223 bone-factory-stock, Nikon 3-9x
Scratch-built BVSS, LW 243 1-8" twist, Viper 6.5-20x50 mil-dot
I'm running Wolf primers and Lapua brass.
