They are standard 1/4 28 bolts. Ace, True Value, etc. have them. Buy some a bit too long, thread a nut on, cut to the perfect length, take the nut off (will clean up any threads you mess up cutting the bolt), enjoy.
??? i recently purchased a new Boyd's stock for my 116 stainless and it fits and looks beautiful, but i need longer action screws. i called Savage and had them send some new ones for an wood stock that would be longer. i don't know but the ones they sent were only 1/32" longer and it feels like only 1-2 threads are going into the action. i'm afraid of stripping the threads in the action and want to know where i may be able to buy the right screws for a wood stock.
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
Holy Crap!!

+1 to what Eric said.
Either look for 1/4" x 28 screws/bolts at your local old fashioned hardware store (Home Depot, Lowes, and other big box stores won't have them)
or try searching for them online at Fastenal.com, (or similar places like Grainger, Drillspot, etc)
or try Brownells Remington 700 BDL allen trigger guard screws, part number 084-272-701
http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1...ERGUARD-SCREWS.
The trigger guard screws have a fillister heads and are available slotted or hex) They are too long (2 1/8" and 1 5/8") but you can easily trim to fit.
