    .260 in short action

Is the short action CF magazine box long enough for the .260 with 142 grain bullets? I don't own one at the moment so I can't check how long the box is.

That depends on how deep you plan to seat the bullet, and what bullet type you use. A match bullet will normally be a tad longer than a hunting bullet so theres alot of variables there.

If I remember right the mags will allow somewhere around a 3" COL. I will try to get a good measurement on mine and report back.

OK, I just measured my centerfeed detachable magazine and also some 308 rounds that I loaded a while back. These 308 loads were originally loaded longer for use as a single shot but when I decided to use the magazine I had to seat them a little deeper so they would fit.

The loaded rounds have a COL of 2.920", which just fits in the mag. My measurement of the mag itself shows that the 2.920 is just about the limit. You may be able to get 2.950 but I think 3.00 will definately be too long.

    Hope this helps,

I ran 130 VLDs in my 10FP centerfeed blind mag at 2.94" OAL with no problems; tried 3.00" for grins and it worked too.

Thanks guys for taking the time to respond, I think I will consider using the Creedmoor instead.
