    338 Lapua in 10/110

Anybody shooting one of these? A friend of mine just bought one and is asking me what factory ammo to start with without having to buy a bunch of different kinds since he doesn't reload and I don't have dies for that caliber.

I dont know if Lapua makes factory loaded ammo but if they do that would be the logical place to start.

If he doesn't reload, the first thing he should do is take out a second morgtage. Quality ammo in this caliber is expensive as in $5 to$8 a shot.
I have the 110 FCP HS and it loves 300 gr bullets. There was a huge difference in group size between the 250 and 300 grainers. I am handloading because it is much cheaper so I can't help much on factory stuff. Tell him to do a search for 338 Lapua ammo and look for 285-300 gr bullets.

I have seen some Black Hills at my local range but it is very pricey, I remember it being around 95 dollars for a box of twenty. If he is going to shoot much he would be smart to start reloading.

I sent the wife to pick up a few boxes of ammo for me to shoot and she called and was like I think I am looking at the wrong stuff b/c it is like $100 a box . She then preceded to tell me I owe her now. On a side note If you dont reload check out dallas reloads they have good prices on 338 ammo.

Federal gold medal uses lapua brass, it'll be $100/box, but you can probably get $30-$40 back for the fired brass.

They have a 250gr smk load as well as a new 300gr smk load, sounds like the 300gr are the way to go for a savage.

I reload for mine, so I've never bought loaded ammo, but if I was going to buy loaded ammo I might start here http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/index....ammo-338-lapua

This stuff make the cost of shooting a .50 BMG look reasonable.
