Pros & Cons: Bedding the first inch of barrel

I've got a new laminate stock and V block on order to go with my Savage PTA and 30" barrel, so I am going to have to do some inletting. That 30" barrel is a heavy palma contour and the first inch is straight before the taper starts. My stock has an extra long fore end to help balance the gun. I am using a bipod. Will bedding that first inch help?

I have heavy barrels that start at 1.250 and there is no need to do that just bed from recoil lug back to where you want.

+1 Don't bed any of the barrel. You'll just create more work for yourself and probably a few accuracy issues. Free float means free float.
