    Bassic Disassembly

I'm new to bolt action rifles and recently purchased a Model 111, 300 win mag and was wanting some basic disassembly instuctions. I'm sure it's as simply as it looks but i wanted to ask first. To remove the stock and trigger assembly is it just the 3 hex head bolts? just wanting to do a really good cleaning on this gun and possibly attempt painting in the future so if i could figure this out that would be great. Thanks for any help.

There are only two screws to remove the action from the stock; the front screw and the one at the back of the trigger guard. The middle one at the front of the guard simply holds it in place. The trigger assembly is a bit more complicated but there is no reason to remove it unless replacing the trigger. About once a year I will remove the barreled action from the stock to make sure all the metal gets a good wipe down with oil or some other preservative.

You got that backwards. The screw at the back of the guard holds the guard in place. The two front screws are the ones that hold the action in the stock.

Yeah, I know. For some reason I was picturing in my head one of my other rifles which does come apart that way. I haven't taken apart the savage in so long I forgot.
