    6x45?

After reducing the cartridges I load for down to just the 223 and 260, I'm thinking about adding something 6mm.

I've considered the 243, 6BR and 6XC...but I'm curious about the 6x45. Use inexpensive brass, no time-consuming brass prep with commercial dies available, and very low recoil & report. Not going to compete with it, just paper/steel punching with maybe some whitetail and predator hunting.

Anybody running one? If so, I'm curious to hear your thoughts...especially compared to other 6mm offerings as well as the 223/223AI.

Is 2800fps with a 95gr SMK reasonably achievable in a 22" bolt gun?

Good thread on it on this board if I recall correctly. Just page down a few pages.

    Re: 6x45?

I see there's a thread about the 6x45AI or 6 TCU...but seemingly precious little info about the "regular" 6x45.

I did see one guy say he got an accuracy node at 2653fps with 95gr bullets out of a 24" barrel...but I'd plan on running AICS 223 mags which give me nearly 0.3" longer OAL than the 2.285" that one poster uses.

I'm running a 6x47 which is very near to your 6x45.

I'm thinking you could just reach 2800 but that would be pushing it pretty hard. I'm thinking 2700 would be more comfortable.

If you need load data for that cartridge I have access to several hundred loads and I'd be happy to send them to you.

I shoot one in an AR but, I only go up to 68 gr pills in mine.(14 twist) Ican reach 3000fps easy enough with the 68s.
5spd (on this board) has one in a bolt gun and could give you more info.

here is a pdf that is full of info.

It is a great round, very accurate, easy to load for and low recoil. Now it is my favorite goto coyote round.

    I'm loving shooting my 6x47 Kimber 84.

Low report, recoil, and cheap to reload.
