80gr Berger VLD in 243win. good loads/a place to start

Anybody got any loads you have had luck with for 80 Berger VLD in the 243win. I'd like to stay with powder i already have... got on hand W748, W760, RL 19, RL 15, IMR4350, and some H380. Any loads would be appreciated.

Haven't worked with a Berger, but my buddy's .243 Win likes 46 gr of IMR-4350 under 80 gr RP PSPs & Win LRMs in PPU brass. The old brown book lists 48 gr as max w/ an 80 gr CNC and standard LR primers, so I'd expect it'd be in that neighborhood. My buddy's rifle started showing signs excessive presure at 47, but as I said this was w/ magnum primers.

    Good luck,

    efw

Shouldn't need magnum primers until you get above 50 gr of stick powder.

You are correct; wasn't a matter of need, but just what I happened to have on hand at the time.

As long as you work up your load using them right from the start, there isn't any harm, either.
