    nevada ?

i was hearing that nevada is 90 percent public and was wondering if there are prairie dogs there?
my buddy and i are big into coyote hunting and were thinking of maybe going down there some time and since we had never seen vegas or reno maybe taking a couple nite break there, but really the trip would be coyote and pd hunting.

what do you guys that have experience think?
we would probably drive from eastern, wa. down and set up a wall tent or two maybe bring a couple other guys to lessen the expence.

when are the better times for coyotes?
and could we find prairie dogs at the same time?

im from vegas and do a lot of coyote hunting. standard setup just make sure you got elevation the bushes can be high. There some pd in northern nevada but mostly going to be on farm land. So your going to have to do some calling. Farmers are pretty nice. lots of rabbits and yotes in the vegas area. I drive about hour and a half from vegas and get about 30 plus rabbits spot lighting.

We used to hunt around Fallon-SE of Reno-10 years ago. Best part is (was?) that NV will allow non-residents to hunt coyotes without permits. Bad part is that much of the area is military bombing range. Helps to hunt with a local. Steve

I did a nevada coyote trip this last april. We stayed in Fernley and had a great time. There is so much public land there it is amazing. We learned alot and are definetly going back this next spring.Buy some good maps and get the hunting gps chip for your garmin.
I don't know about PD's but plenty of coyote ground.Go for it!

    Chameloncamo,
I am teaching my grandson to shoot. He lives in Anti-gun socialist Kalifornia, but stays all summer with me. He is 9 but will be ten next summer, says he wants to learn to hunt.
I started him with 22s but he was shooting both my 223 and 6.8 ARs very well.

Where do you do this yote hunting? I live off 95 at the last exit north, exit 95. Just a few miles from the Clark County range, I shoot there every week. Could use some tips on shooting around Las Vegas. I could always start him on rabbits, haven't seen any PDs down here, but shooting a Ruger 10/22 all day is great fun.

I go up north to Elko often for my work, just a big trip for the grandson so while he is still young I want to keep it local.

    Thanks for any tips
