    Barrel set back

I might be able to get hold of a new factory Savage 204 R for zip! and was thinking of getting a 223Rem Axis and have the barrel set back and rechambered to 20 Tac. It would mean about 0.140 in set back. Would this cause any problems beside the gap between barrel and stock? ???

    Re: Barrel set back

Why should there be a big problem.

The outside diameter should be the same for both bbls. The hole on the inside is the only difference.

If you are worried about the slight setback change in to space between stock and bbl forget it. Just a LITTLE more space to help keep the bbl cool.
