imperial dry lube ?

i bought some imperial dry lube today since i have heard it is pretty good stuff. i was wondering if i needed to add some shot to it. i had seen in a couple pictures when i was reading about the 6-284 being sized and all that these guys had some shot in with thier imperial.

I bought some and it still sits in a box hardly used. The graphite was messy usualy had black dust all over the place. IMO it didn't work worth a crap, all I ever saw was the black dust/grim build up in my dies. The dust grim also sat in the cases. Forester makes a neck lubicator that uses motomicra, and I thought it works a bit better. I also made my own by getting a small jar placing some #7 1/2 shot in it, and filling it with Moly, I found it works much better.

should i be ok with hornady one shot since thats what i usually use when popping primers and necking brass or should i get something else. i just want to be able to take the 6.5-284 brass and run it through the fl die and have 6-284 with out a stuck cartridge

I dont think you have much to wory about. I use either hornady or imoerial wax, and never had a problem.

I was told that the way imperal got there start was they started making lube, it is part tolite gasket ring, vasoline, and a few other things, they packed it in imperial margarine cups, and the name stuck. Everyone called it the imperial wax, and the rest is history.

I use the Imperial Application media with the dry neck lube in it.

Keep the imperial handy for when you have a stuck case or two with the hornady one shot. Not if, but when. One shot isn't as good as it use to be.

I like the Hornady wax and I like Justin's idea about toilet wax rings also.
I need to try that. They're only about $4 each and it's alot of wax.

Hornady one shot wax or the Lee tube 'o stuff works good, also. The lee lube can be loosened up with a drop or two of water to make it easier to apply & stretch it when you get low.

Bought the One Shot to neck some 300 Weatherby down to 7-300 Weatherby. Followed directions to the letter. After the first few cases chattering through the die, I went back to the Imperial - Wow! What a difference!

I've never had a problem using the Imperial.

You can make your own dry lube applicator system easily. Simply get some powdered graphite, or-better yet, get some Molybdenum Disulfide powder. Then get a small tin, fill it. not quite full, with #6 or #7.5 shot and then add enough powder to make it work.

I am fond of applying a small amount of regular Imperial to the inside of my case necks with a Q-Tip. It is a little more work, but then at the same time, I inspect the necks for cracks, etc. The stuff washed off with hot water and Dawn diswashing detergent.

you are lubing the inside and outside of your cases then?
