    Re: HOG HUNTER

I think it's interesting that they are offering this gun in .223, .308, and .338 WIN. (Check it out here http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/models/ and it's under "Specialty Series" and listed as (of course) Hog Hunter.

But.....maybe the .223 is for hunting "Groundhogs" as opposed to those "big 'ol ham hogs." ;D

I'm still chompin at the bit for them to release the .17 Hornet!!!!

I've killed more feral pigs with a .223 than any other caliber. Shot right below the ear instant kill.

Saw this and it gave me an idea for my model11.308. I'm getting my sporter cut to 16". Already has factory dbm. I'll see how it goes. Should be pretty slick.

I'm looking forward to this one too even though there isn't a wild hog anywhere near here. I'm thinking the 20" barrel will work just right in my tree stand. And I think the gun is just ugly enough to look cool.

Great value. I have the 308 for a general truck/ranch hunting rifle.

I am going to do the same thing with a 11 or 16 lefty DBM gun. I can't wait!! I think I am going to go with a 2X red dot on it, or just a set of tritium night sight flash hider. I really want to know how 175G SMK subsonics will do. I am going to make some tommorrow!

    I really like mine.
Although I'd like a different stock. I'm not much into plastic per se.
    and its green. LOL

    EDIT:
Please let me mention, that shooting 3 quick rounds of steel case Russian ammo, on a 110 degree day,
I stuck a case in the chamber.

Took it home, let it cool & knocked it out with an arrow shaft.

I then "reamed" the chamber with a bore brush (brass) and CLP for about 60 seconds chucked up in a drill.

    Havn't had any issues since.

(don't go too deep if you dare try this )
