    New .308 Owner here

    Hello Guys, and Gals.

The name is Brian, im from SW Florida.
after 2 months of researching, deciding, then researching again... running the match up between atleast 7 guns to get me started in the rifle world, it really came down to Remingtons 770 synthetic and The Savage Axis.
Finally decided to shit or get off the pot. Found a great local deal on a new Savage Axis XP chambered .308 for $370 after taxes and such.
They didnt have one in stock, but its on order and should be here next week. Just wanted to say im pretty damn excited to get on the range and zero it in.

Hope to post some pics once i get my group going. ;D

what kind of accessories are out there for the Axis models? besides upgrading the scope?
also what kinda of accessories are good to look at that have universal fit for just about every bolt action?

Not much out there thats axis specific.. all I know of is a trigger, but I'm happy with my trigger with just a lighter spring. as for universal accessories, all i can think of is a bipod.... not sure what else you can really add to a hunting rifle.... I guess you could add an adjustable cheek peace, but mine is perfect for me the way it is....

No aftermarket support for an Axis at all. As stated, you can add a bipod and replace the trigger.

Will you be loading your own or using factory loads?

Hi Brian, Congrats on the right desicion buying the Axis. I've found that you can't go wrong even with the budget priced Savages. I own one in 7mm-8 and love it!! Just purchased another one in .223 and can't wait to setup for some fun shooting.
