Savage 111g How do you remove front sights?

    Folks,

I just bought a Savage 111G in 7MM Rem Mag. Also bought a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40M scope. I mounted the scope using Weaver scope rings and mounts. I removed the rear sight using a screw driver and installed a tap screw to fill the hole. The question I have is how do you remove the front sights? There are no screws, so it appears that the front sight is attached using double sided tape. I am hesitant to try to pry the sight off as I don't want to damage it. Anyone have any ideas?

Drift out the front blade and you will find the screw that holds the base.

    Lhitchcox.

Thanks for the tip. Worked great. What is your opinion of the set up I have? Planning on going elk
    hunting Wyoming next year.

Your gun should serve well as an elk gun. 7mm mag is a good round for larger game.
