New Axis 223. Safety wont work

New to the site , and very glad I found it . Just bought a new Axis 223. over the weekend , havent even shot it yet . All I have done is clean it , but I noticed the safety is not going all the way down to activate the safety . The red dot is still exposed and when I put the safety on and pull the trigger it disengages the safety . Therefore not working , any idea what this could be from ?? Any help would be appreciated.

If you remove the action from the stock. There is a safety adjustment screw. You should be able to see what the problem is. It's got some funky thread lock on it. If you adjust it, you might need some loctite.

Thanks, for the help . Actually had a guy look at it today and that is basically what he did . Plus there was a bunch of gunk in it . Was also able to do a trigger job on it for me , got it down to 4lbs.
