NRA rule change

Not sure how many of you it will affect but here are the scoring changes. I know f-class, palma and service rifle scoring will change. Not so much the scoring changed but how the score is marked on the target board.

Rule changes effective 2012
2.11 Club Teams – All team members, including Team
Captain and firing Coach, must have been active fully-paid
members of the club that the team represents for a period of at
least 30 days immediately prior to the competition. The club
may be affiliated with NRA. There are two types of teams
allowed in this rule:
(a) Local Club Teams – Local Club Teams must be
composed of members who reside legally within the
same state, territory or province or residents of other
states who live within 50 miles of the local club.
(b) Open Club Teams – Open Club Teams must be
composed of members all of whom are not necessarily
legal resident in the same state, territory or province.
(A single club could have more than one team, one of
which could be a Local Club Team; and another, an
Open Club Team).
(c) Non-US Citizens competing in team matches shall
enter in the Open Club category.
3.1 Service Rifle –
(f) DELETE
3.3.2 NRA Any Sight Match Rifle/Tactical Rifle –
(c) Competitors may use a service rifle equipped with
optic sights to compete under this rule. Competitors
using service rifles described in Rules 3.1(c) and
3.1(d) may remove the carry handle to allow mounting
of the optic sight.
7.22 F-Class Long Range National Championships
Any match sponsor that wishes to the F-Class Long Range
National Championships shall use the following courses of
fire:
Day 1, 3-15 shot 1,000 yard individual matches.
Day 2, 3-15 shot 1,000 yard individual matches.
Day 3, 2, 4-person team matches, 20 shots per individual
plus the aggregate of the 2 team matches.
Day 4, 2-20 shot 1,000 yard matches.
10.7 (b) RAPID FIRE –
Add to end of second paragraph after “These commands
can be given while the targets are being repaired.”
Rapid fire commands shall begin immediately following
the sighter period. No additional sighter periods shall be
authorized.
14.17 Use of Shot Hole Spotters –
(a) A 1.5 inch or smaller spotter for rapid fire.
(b) A 3 inch or smaller spotter for slow fire, 200 yards
through 600 yards.
(c) A 5 inch or smaller spotter for all ranges in excess of
600 yards.
14.18 Signal Systems for Scoring Targets – The visual
Signaling system described below will be used in all high
power rifle tournaments:
(a) Slow Fire: Value spotters are placed as indicated
on the target frame, all of a highly visible color such
as fluorescent orange or black. The shooter may
request the color they can best see.

(b) Rapid Fire: A narrow vertical chalk board is hung
on the left side of the target frame (during scoring
phase only), with the successive scoring values
painted on it. Opposite each value is chalked the
total number of hits of that value scored in the
string.

Actually, that method of scoring has been around as 'system B', 'alternate' or 'international'. More and more clubs have been going to it because it keeps your precious little fingers down below the waterline for all scoring values instead of having people trying to jump up or climb on the carrier to hang a '7'.

Where? I did a text search of your post, and the only mention of 'tactical' was the Any-Sight Match/Tactical Rifle class, which has been around for a year or two also. They just changed it to include Service Rifles w/ Optics mounted.

There *are* some places bangin' the drums for a 'Field Precision Rifle' class, complete with brakes, suppressors, mag-length ammo, limits on bipods and barrel lengths, etc. They are gaining some traction, but not a lot - yet.

I was refering to how the rules have read in the past not that the rule changed had both in it. As to the being around a year or two i might be just a tad bit behind the times and missed the change in years past. It ain't a big deal I just have to learn to mark scores all over again.

Did a little search and found that in the 2010 rules they had added the word tactical which was not in the 2008 rules. I did not find any rule changes for 2009 but i could have easily missed them. Again not a big deal and i could very well be reading something into it that isn't there as f/tr has always meant target rifle and the tactical rifle is more like f-open only a repeater? NOTE that is not a statement more like asking myself a question.

Open it up, then hit Ctrl+F to do a search for 'tactical'.

On my computer, it shows up exactly one spot - the section on Any Sight Match / Tactical Rifle. Nothing at all in the rest of the rules, and specifically *nothing* in section 22 for F-Class - still reads as F-Class Target Rifle as far as I can tell, and always has.

I really don't know where you're getting this F-Tactical bit from. I've never seen it in any of the official rules, and I don't see it in the current rev. Show me what I'm missing...

as i said i very well could be reading it in. There is now the word tactical in the rules for any-any which gives the people that have always said f-tr means tactical rifle not target a class they can claim. Chalk it up to old cootitis. Just me putting 2 classes together that don't need to be together. have edited post to remove my mistake.

Its not really Any-Any so much as it is adding optics for Match Rifle - while throwing a bone to the tacticool crowd to give them a place to play as well.
