Ok guys looking for some input on bedding around the barrel nut.

Just did this last week!
I put modeling clay in the groves and in front of the lock nut to stop bedding compound from flowing into the cavities!
then when it dried after a few days i took a dremel and sanded down the bedding materiel under the lock nut to float it up to the recoil lug!

Wrap a layer of tape around the nut, and call it good.
+1 - I don't like to bed that area (or the front, sides, or bottom of the lug). Masking tape works well - I use a double layer.Originally Posted by 82boy
Ok i bedded a Savage model 12 BVSS and i did everything i have always done to Remmys and Weatherbys. Ok i will say it im a jackass cuz i over looked the grooves on the nut and locked the action into the stock. When i tried to remove it i cracked a brand new stock. So its now up for bid on accurate shooter.
Should of asked before but didnt so i learned da hard way.
