    convert to hinged floorplate?

Okay here's the scenario: you trudge up tough terrain before daylight and climb all the way up into a tree stand, and get situated. You look down and the %$#@#$% magazine is gone out of your short action detachable-mag centerfeed Savage - no doubt buried beneath the leaves somewhere between you and the truck. Ask me how I know about this situation >.

I'll never buy or use another detachable mag hunting rifle - just my 2 cents, YMMV. So, will the hinged floor plate and spring and parts cross over and install? Do I need a diff trigger guard? Any help greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I've often worried about that very same think happening. Sharp Shooter Supply carried all the parts you'll need. You can convert but I think you have to get a different frame/bottom metal for the hinged floorplate to work. It's frame should have the hinge and the floorplate whereas the DBM would just have the latch for the mag to clip into.
