    Savage 12 Mixed blue/SS parts?

I came across a Savage 12 for save, it has the BVSS stock with a blued receiver and stainless barrel. The bolt is a mix of blued and stainless. Is this someones project or did Savage produce rifles like this? Seller said rifle was bought new and put in safe. The receiver has rust and the mix of blued and SS parts has me curious if this is a factory rifle.

    Thanks, Ken

I could be someones project, and it could be a Savage build. Savage did some crazy stuff from time to time, and I have seen in the past where they did have mix matched guns come from the factory. To answer the question yes Savage did have some blued receiver action and stainless barreld guns, but they are rare.

Thanks. Seller said rifle was bought new and put it in a safe. There is a bit of visible rust on the receiver so if he did get this new, it was stored very poorly.

the early BVSS 's were blued actions with stainless barrels.

Id be asking him for the original reciept & box (I keep all that stuff as the original buyer myself) if I was to buy, just to see what the answer is even though the early ones came like that you dont see them that much so you are right to ask.

I have a model 112 FSAK, built in 1989 or 1998 I believe. it has blued receiver and bolt handle, and stainless nut and barred. Savage said they made a run of them like that for a distributor.

My BVSS in 308 came with blued action and bolt handle was stainless along with the recoil lug, barrel nut and barrel. Bought it new in 96'.
