and heres my gun case. It hold 4 guns nicely, all of which are varmint or bench guns with big scopes and wide stocks.
please feel free to move this thread to where it needs to be.. I live 970 miles away from my prairie dog hunting area. when you have 4 guys going gear, ammo, weapons, clothes. what do you guys use to transport and accomidate all these things? guns wearing choate varmint stocks and larger than average optics make things problematic to transport. any ideas or input on how you guys roll? 4x4 is a definate because if it rains youre stuck. thanks in advance..

That is one fine gun case! Where did you find that?
Alot of searching on the internet. They built it to my specs and had it to me in about 3-4 weeks. It wasnt cheap at $500 and $60 shipping to me, but a small price to pay to protect $8K in rifles/scopes. I'll see if I can find the website.Originally Posted by barrel-nut

What's all that white stuff all over everything? ;D
Kinda hard to see in the pic but back when I lived in Minnesota and drove back and forth doggin I put a shelf in the back of the pickup with drawers underneth for guns and ammo/supplies.
These days I just though the guns/ammo in the back seat with the 223 in the front seat right beside me ;D

I just got a pair of Danners on my feet, calls around my neck and a small backpack for some food, water and extra socks and gloves.
I will drive the Jeep and get out and never see it again for several hours as I walk from stand to stand.
Maybe I am doing this wrong? ???
This works for me, gun , decoy, styxs, lunch, chair, flashlight matches extra cals and coyote drag all in on package just throw it on my shoulders and go.
I usually haul my most important equiptment in jockey shorts.

I carry my rifle and associated gear in a Sniper Drag Bag I got from Midwayusa. I have the 56" Olive Drab model DragBag-56-OD

Midwayusa had these on sale for $29.99 recently. Keep an eye out. They may have an after Christmas sale too. A pair of these will hold a LOT of stuff. LOTS of compartments and removable storage bags too. I got the Olive Drab colored bag.

I carry my Fox Pro Prairie Blaster coyote call, ammo, binoculars, laser range finder, decoy, Caldwell Wind Wizard, extra batteries for everything, Berkey Filter Water Bottle, and misc. items in one of these bags with room left for more stuff. Comes with a decent should strap too. They are big but not too big. A pair of these bags would be easier to carry than one big bag in my opinion and make a good vehicle bug out set of bags.
This is my main mode of off road transportation although I do load up one of the Honda ATV's from time to time.
