620A Age?

I have an old Montomery Wards WesternField Deluxe Model 60, which is a relabeled Savage Model 620A if I am not mistaken.

I picked this up today for free. It's a bit rough but I am getting ready to restore it and am curious to it's age.

Can anyone here tell me from the Serial Number which is: U59517 ?

Gave it a good cleaning and inspection today. Put three shells through it. Was surprised it fired and cycled all 3 flawlessly.

Action is unbelievably smooth.

No help on it's age?

You are correct,it is a 620a which probably is out of the early fiftys. .THERE ARE SAVAGE COLECTOR SITES THAT HAVE SERIAL NUMBER STUFF FOR YOU TO LOOK OVER. One is the savage collectors forum,google it.Sorry caps lock was on.
