Necking up 6.5x284 Lapua brass to 284 Winchester

What expander die is required to neck up 6.5x284 Lapua brass to 284 Winchester?

Or do you use an expander mandrel with your normal die?

I know they recommend using the expander mandrel first, then FL size your brass with your 284 die!

    Just need the correct process

    ???

They do make 284 win brass.

But if you must, it can be done, anneal first for best performance.

Dennis. Expanding 6.5 to 7mm should be a simple pass in the 284 die set which has a tapered button. Several die makers have them available. You're only taking it out .020 inch, or 10 thousands per side.

+1 - tapered expander and lube the inside good. No problems with half a mm. No need to aneal or anything. Check length and you might want to trim them a little bit even if they aren't too long just to square the mouth up.
