    Mark II Sling Swivel Posts

Last week I purchased a Mark II GXP for Daughter #1's upcoming 13th birthday.

It has pre-installed sling posts but not the swivels themselves.

Are they "universal"? Will these fit?

Her birthday isn't until Jan so I don't get to use it until then...I'm sure I'll have a number of other questions at that point in time. ;D

    Yes, they should.
If you wish to be safe, purchase them locally so you can easily return them.

    Thanks for the reply.

I already had them ordered when I posted...just wanted to make sure they would work.

I've also ordered 2 magazines from Midway. They seem to be the cheapest i've seen online. 2 now and 2 more in January before her birthday should have her all set for AppleSeed ;D

So...the time is quickly approaching. I finally get to give this to her this coming Friday! ;D

Is there anything we have to do to it before actually using it? I've never bought a new gun.

I'd reccomend that you get with a friend who has had some experience. There are always slight adjustments that can improve the operation even on a new piece. The least you could do is run cleaning patch through the barrel a few strokes. There are several things that will help smooth out the operation of the bolt. As I said, get someone that can put hands on that knows something. Quick

Be forewarned that you may have to tweak the feed lips on the extra magazines a little to get them to feed properly. Basically take the one that came with the gun, load it up, and take note of how the top round sits (how high the bullet tip is). You'll want to match this on the additional magazines. A pair of needle-nose pliers works well for this, and the amount of tweaking is usually minimal.
