    Bedding with JB weld

Hi, anyone ever bed a action with JB weld type material? I just did a test with JB weld. Dried fast and hard but not sure how long it will last. Good and cheap practice. Pretty easy to dremel out if it isn't working out.

That's all I ever use. It works great. :) Not the fast set stuff.

I use the fast stuff, but let it cure for 24 hours before shooting. Gotta be quick about things as it starts to set inside of 5 minutes.

Your crazy to bed with the fast setting stuff!!!
Better get the slow that will give you plenty of time to clean things up nice so your not going crazy with the dremel tool te next day for 8 hours cutting out all the extra jb that dried before you could wipe it away!

I use the quick stuff too and I don't have any problems with it setting up before I can clean up the excess.

    Re: Bedding with JB weld

It comes in a little tin. You apply it with a rag then buff it off. Just like you'd do for your shoes.

I let the JB set up until it is quite stiff but I can still make a mark in it with my fingernail. Then I'll remove the action and clean up the show line of the stock, mag well, trigger/sear area. Then, I'll put the action back in and snug up the screws to the pillars and leave it to set completely. 24 hours should do.
