    Favorite .30-06 recipies

Wondering what everyones favorite .30-06 load recipies are. No specifics as to style of shooting here, just looking for your favorite .30-06 load recipies and why you consider it your favorite. If you've got multiple favorite loads for different things list them as well and tell me why. Im compiling a large list of all the different loads that people favor and eventually will make a spreadsheet so that I can rank each piece of the work up by popularity. Yes, sometimes I get bored......

I appreciate all the responses. TIA, Zach

Winchester brass, CCI BR2 primer, 57gr IMR4350 topped by a 165gr SGK HPBT. Best group stacked 10 into .446 from a flatback 116FLCSAK

    Re: Favorite .30-06 recipies

I see many of Y'all like to use IMR4350 in your '06. I believe I'll pick up a can & give it a go. I've done well with 50.1 of IMR4064 under 150gr Nos BT's. I've used Rem, Win & Fed brass but lean toward the Rem. Especially after it's annealed. Cases cut to 4.484" - CCI primers after I had 2 WLR burn a pin hole out the back edge & crater my bolt face.
COL is typically 3.181" measured from case head to the bottom of the plastic tip on the bullet. I get more consistant measurements using the top of the copper instead of the tip of the plastic. Maybe Santa will bring me a COL gauge this year.
    Have a safe Holiday, everyone.

If I were gonna try 4350 for a hunting rifle it would be H4350. Its one of Hodgdons extreme powders and is more stabile in temp changes. By the way, thats a Big Ole' case your using for your 30-06 (cases cut to 4.484) ;D

    OOOOopppppssss!...

    That's 2(two) . 484"! For the case length.

My mistake. Whatttaya expect that early in the AM from an old guy whose fingers don't always do what he asks of them. In the dark. With a keyboard.... ::)

At least I got the COL right.

You say you prefer the H over the IMR on 4350? The H4831 I use for my .270win is an extreme powder, also. I like the consistancy & results I get from the H powder. For my '06 it's always been an IMR powder. Perhaps I should give it the 'ol college try...
By the way, It's not for hunting. Typically, target up to 400 , plinking, shooting full plastic gallon jugs & so on. I do try to squeeze as much accuracy out of it as possible. It gives me bragging rights at the local range. Very important.

    Remington or Winchester brass
Remington 9 1/2 large rifle primer
    Hodgdon H4350 57.9 GR.
    Speer 165 Grain BTSP

It's been a favorite load of mine for nearly 30 years as both of my 30-06's group under an inch at 100 yards and between my son a I we have killed 21 Elk and 11 Mule deer with when hunting in Colorado and all were one shot kills. I now live in Arkansas but I still do an annual Elk hunt in Colorado and next year will make 30 years straight. In Arkansas I use a 308 or 270 for the smaller deer here.

    Bullet: Hornady 165 interlock
    Brass: Remington
    Primer: CCI 200
    Charge: 46.5 Varget
    COL: 3.26

This is my go to Garand load. Works very well. I imagine it might be a bit slow for a bolt action.
