338 Edge, McGowen barrel, here are my target pictures

I have promised many I would post the pictures of my targets.

Again, I took a Savage 7mm mag and installed a McGowen 30" 338 Edge barrel!

The pictures below is my targets @ 100yds

This picture is my target @ 300yds. Yes, that is a quarter next to the 92.5 group!

Cleary, 92.5grns (either Retumbo or H1000) is the load for my gun. Look at the difference between 92.1 and 92.7! 2,813fps is my avg speed! 300grn Lapua Scenars seem to shoot the best, but Bergers run a close second! I also shot some Bergers .080 off the lands and had some decent groups as well! I might try a few more just to see!

My 338 Edge doesn't like any bullet close to the lands!

Believe 92.5 of Retumbo is your new load.

Have you tried any SMK's yet? Just curious. I don't know if they would improve your groups.

Yes I have tried the SMK's, and they do shoot pretty good! I will find a target picture and post it as well!

    Dennis

Now I will be looking for a load for a 225 to 250grn bullet!

Dennis, 92.5gr H1000 ended up being my hunting load this year. I loaded them to mag length so they were well, well off the lands. Most of my targets look about the same as yours. Never got a "1 hole" group, but always 1" or less total edge 2 edge. I chronoed 5 rounds while on the hunting grounds and got 2798,2796,2794,2796,and 2794fps. Pretty darn good if you ask me!

I took this 3X3 this year, trying to keep the gene pool clean.

That is Western ND, one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, before all the oil traffic any way.

The 4 wheeler is really handy to have out there!
