I use bluedot. with 45s and 50s. Very accurate and a pound of powder goes a long way with little wear on the brass as it doesn't get worked hard.
Curious if anybody has some reduced 223 loads they use.
I'm specifically thinking about Hornet performance, with the 40gr V-Max in the ~2800fps range....but interested in anything 35-69gr.

...As long as you've been on here & have never picked up any good loads yet..lol...12.5grs of Blue-Dot is the magic no# for 35's-50's..As far as anything else goes it could be endless..

Seems like Blue Dot is a popular powder; I've seen many warnings online about it being spiky and the possibility of kabooms, but also many folks saying to weigh each load (vs. throwing charges) and it works just fine.
Seems like a few folks use Unique too, which I have 3/4lb of.
Hi if you use H4895 you can reduce the load all the way down to 60% of max,
so max for a 40gr Vmax 27.5
90% = 25gr
80% = 22gr
70% = 19gr
60% = 17gr
RUMs are like woman in Stiletto heals, you know they are going to put you in the poor house, but that has never stopped anyone from pursuing them.
let me look through my logs, but im pretty sure its 4-7gr of unique with a 40gr bullet.
another option is to set up some brass for shotgun primers.
