Primer storage

I just got a new case of primers and was hunting for another ammo can to store them in, but was out of them. My son said why don't we vacuum pack them ? I can't think of any reason that would not work, can any one else ?

They may last a year and my basement is climate controlled but that sounds like a good idea.

Once you seal the pkg. should last longer than a year, maybe include one of the very small desiccant in the pkg.

Thanks Balljoint I have some of those. They would probably be ok with out sealing but you never know.

I have primers that are at least 40 years old just sitting on a shelf and they still work fine.

Cleared out a bunch or reloading "stuff" when one of my shooting buddies died. All stored in the basement. No climate control. Primers at least 40+ years old. All Mil. spec for his 30.06 highpower rig. "Every" one of them went pop in my M1A. 8)
Powder? That was a different story. Made the flowers and grass grow real god. ;D

do you really have primers 40yrs old?lol

I put all my new primers in one
of those zip lock containers and then stack em on the shelf. Dont see why vacuum sealing them would hurt anything and it would keep moisture out for sure.

I have primers that I bought from an estate that must have been made in the 50's or 60's. I got a very large amount and I am still shooting them.
