    7-08 to a .223

I have a Steven 200 in 7-08 can I install a .223 barrel and still use the same bolt, or any modifications need to be done? Thanks Rick.

You would need to convert the .473 bolt head you have that fits 308 cases to a .378 head that fits 204/222/223 cases.

You'll also need to either strip your existing bolt head and put the items on your new .378 bolt head, or buy the items separately and install them, allowing you two complete bolt heads.

You also might want a new extended baffle, though it isn't necessary; I found out that with CDI bottom metal and an AICS 223 magazine you must have the "standard" baffle as the bolt won't go back far enough to pick up a round in the magazine the the factory extended baffle.

Will you be wanting to swap back to 7-08 ever? If so then Id get a complete bolt at about $89 from midwayusa, its not that much more overall than having to buy the parts & the time spent swapping them out.

I believe SSS sells complete bolt heads for $55 as well.

Buying a complete bolt is OK if ya have more money than time, but it only takes about 10-15 min to set up the new head. I do not see the big deal.
