    Nosler CC

Anybody shoot Nosler CC bullets, particularly in a .260? I cannot get Bergers to shoot no matter the brass, powder, lenght or primer, plus the are too long for the mag. I have followed the Berger guidelines to the 'T', then tried some of others with no luck. Any info is appreciated.

I have run SMK's, Lapua scenars, and berger vld's out of my 260, never had any experience with the Nosler CC's. All loaded pretty well with the scenars seeming easiest to load for in my experience. Perhaps you can tell us all a more about the berger's that wouldn't fly?

Nosler Custom Comp. 140's is all my Son's F-class really likes. When he bought it the previous owner said he had not had good luck with any bullet. I tried Sie. Hornady 140 and then got some CC 140s and that was it.

I needed to give this info but forgot ???
    Rifle Rem 700 .260 NEW
    McGowan 1:8 26" Hvy bbl
    Lapua brass
    CCI BR-2

Powders: RL 19, H4350, Imr 4350 all shot at different times. Only one item changed, which was the powder.
All groups are 1" or better. The best I got was a tad over 3/4. Rounds were loaded at the lands 10/1000 jam to 40/1000's off with 5/1000's set back as I moved it in. All three shot groups.

RL-17 shoots better with Bergers in my Criterion than H4350 does.

    Re: Nosler CC

I didn't have much success with the Nosler CC's in my 30-06 at first. I use 48.5gr. of IMR4064 but didn't start to get them to settle down until I started moving them back to around .025". The rifle is a Savage 110 built in 2002(?). I'm working on the second barrel, which has approx 2000 to 3000 rounds thru it. The first time I loaded them up I started at .010" set back with 42.5gr. of IMR4064 & ran a OCW from there. Best I come up with was 3 or 5 rounds in a 1.25 x 1.25 square with the obligatory occasional flyer. I suppose I should mention I use stock barrels & keep my rifles mostly plain 'ol stock.
When time permits, I believe I need to try a slower powder. Perhaps Imr 4350 or my .270 fav -- H4831. I have had all kinds of good results with H4831 in my .270 & started trying it in my 30-06 with favorable results.
I do try to stay mostly with Nosler Ballistics. I've had much better results with them. The Nosler CC's were on sale so, I tried them.
    Good luck with your endeavor.

I appreciate all of the responses. I think I am closing in on a final load. The NCC 140's shot very well.

I picked up some 140 CC's from Shooters Pro Shop to try in my 6.5x55AI. At $18/100 they are about half the price of the 120 NBT's or 130 VLD's I normally shoot. They shoot just fine.

    EOD;

I have had good luck with the Nosler 140's using Remington and Nosler brass with 42gr H4350. The 139gr Lapua Scenars work well too.

If you are having length troubles you may need to go to a lighter bullet.

Try using 10 shot groups rather than 3 shot groups, it will cut down on the variables.

If you can't get any load to work, I'd take it to GOOD gunsmith. There has been some instances of barrel makers truning out egg shaped bores. On the other hand, some barrels are really picky about the the load combo they like.

How good is your shooting technique?
