Removing Magazine Box

    Hello,

I am working on a build and have a Savage 110 LH 7mm RUM that has the magazine box attached to the receiver. What is the proper way to remove it? I tried for about 20mins and couldn't seem to make any progress. I didn't want to damage it and go as far as sticking it in a vice and giving it a good squeeze.

Has anyone ever removed them before? Directions or a video would be amazing! The purpose for removing it is for ease of duracoating it.

    Thanks,

    Jake

Put a screw driver at the rear base where the little tab meets the action and give a soft rap, it should pop right out. Then use the search function and there will be a few post on how to remove/replace mags.

    Be Careful!

Removing it is as easy as rjtfroggy said. Put a screw driver on it, give it a rap and it'll pop out. The problem is in replacing it. Popping it out does tend to bend the tab a bit, at least it did on mine. When I replaced it, I tried popping it back in but it took several hits, which distorted the tab in the other direction. I straightened it out, tried popping it back in and it broke. I had to purchase another mag. The second one popped right in. Just be careful when you do it and hopefully you won't go through the frustration I did.

Thanks for the responses guys. Not to be thick, i just really don't want to break anything, what would you define a rap as?

Also am I pushing it towards the front of the action? or more up towards the top of the action?

    Thanks again,

To the front it should pop up on it's own.
Rap; as hard as needs to be to pop it.

IMO you would be better off leaving it in and Duracoat it the way it is. More than likely you'll scratch it trying to put it back in. They can be a real pain. Brian Brown.
