    New to Shotguns

    Hello,

Friend of my has a 12 GA pump with a 18.5" barrel. He purchased it 30 years ego, but never shot it.
I am looking for a HD shotgun, so I am considering buying it.
It is a Stevens Model 67 series E by Savage Arms. SN:D7101xx.
Is it a reliable for home defense?
What would be a fair price?
Any and all comments are welcome.

    Thanks

I don't believe that gun was made with a 18 1/2" barrel. Maybe it has seen some hacksaw action? In 100 % condition it is a $200.00 to $250.00 gun depending on if it has a vent rib and choke tubes. Should be fine for your intended use as long as it cycles ok.

In Vietnam I had a Springfield ( I assume a Stevens ) pump issued to me for use guarding the garbage dump. It had a short barrel and it worked pretty good when I could find someone to toss cans in the air for me.

I too have a 67E. A fair price if it is in mint condition would be $175-$200 but on average about $125-$150 if everything works. I read on the net they are an OK gun. I bought mine earlier this year and I have not had a chance to fire it so I cannot give you an accurate review. I believe mine is an 18.5 barrel as well. Here are some pictures:
