    340C in 30-30 ~ ~ ~ Keep it or sell it???

I just inherited a Savage 340C in 30-30, this thing is super clean. It has a band on the barrel which I would assume to hurt accuracy. When I removed it, the action was only held by one bolt. The action at that point was flopping around in the stock. I have not shot it yet. Am I best to leave it as is, or is there a way to get rid of the band and firm up the action?
Any guess on the value of this little beauty?
    THANKS!

price varies some with region. $250- is a normal guess. try some of the hornaday leverlution ammo in it. may surprise.

You need the band - you can try a piece of rubber (like inner tube material) in the channel just in front of the band. Like Blue said - try it as is and you might be surprised (tough trigger but most will shoot around 1" or less!).

Ditto on the lever action Hornady ammo

If you re-load try these, you will be shocked at the difference
They sell them as ready to shoot as well.
Mine came used and I cleaned up the trigger group and tried to polish things up.
    Made a huge difference.
The stock trigger pull is awfully hard and now it's manageable

The 340C is a keeper and you'd be hard pressed to find one for $250. More like $350 to $375. It's a Carbine and they're accurate. I had one with the dockendorf rear sight and it even had a 4x Savage scope and like a dummy, I sold it.

We got it out last Saturday, this thing is sweet. My 16 year old Son and I were both hitting clays in the berm at 75 yards off hand.
But, it's time to thin the herd, I'll be putting it up for sale.
