Savage model 12 FCV Opinions needed.

I have a chance to buy a Savage model 12 FCV in caliber 223. What are your opinions of this gun? Most if not all my shooting will be at 1, 2, and 3 hundred yards at paper. I was planning on buying a new Savage model 12 BVSS which is a more expensive gun and I found this one for sale. This is my first center fire rifle in 30 or so years and I have lost out on the latest information. Thanks Don

I bought one this past spring in 22-250 and just love it. I load 55 grain hornady vmax with 34 gr rl15 and it shoots one very small ragged hole at one hundreed yards. Little heavy to carry very far but really shoots well. Bill

I have read that if you take the barreled action out of the stock it's very hard too get it seated again. Have you had this problem? Don

I have a 12FV in .243, the older staggered feed with accutrigger. The factory stock just plain sucks on them, while mine would maintain a small gap when using a bipod it did flex quite a lot. I've since replaced mine with a laminate stock and am much happier.

The first thing I did the day I bought the rifle was to remove from stock and set accutrigger on lightest setting. Put it back on, didn't torque anything just tightened tight and that is how she shoots. I have harris bipod onmy gun and no problem. Bill
