Finally had a chance to test the 105gr A-max on a small buck last week. At 297 yds the bullet made a complete past thru both shoulder turning the heart and lungs into jello. Load is 43.3grs of Superformance, CCI 200LR, bullet seated .005 off the lands. MV is 2970 in the Model 11 w/22" barrel. Next step is 400 yds range and boost the MV.
Outstanding results! Where do you think you'd like the MV to be? That's smokin'......Worked up a load for my son's 6 Dasher for hunting....I thought 3080 to 3100 fps out of a 28" tube using a 105 gr. Berger huning / vld was pretty good.....but nearly 3000 fps on your first go-around with a 22" tube...outstanding!

I'd like to get around 3050, but I won't change the current load until after hunting season...leave well enough alone for now. Shoots 1.5" at 400 yds. Ballistics says it good at to 550 yds, so I'll test on the next deer at the 400 mark and work my way up.

SC is where I hunt also. Still have the family farm down there. Going back in Nov. I'll be using my 7mag w/162 amax and hoping to break the 800 yd barrier.

Update. Using the same load on a doe couple of weeks ago. Range 268 yds with the same results. The 105 is truly a killing machine. The only thing that worries me is a shot under 100 yds. Have no idea if the bullet will penetrate or blow up on contact. May require a neck or head shot instead of the shoulder.
Can't imagine worse results than you've seen already. If it would blow up it would be I think after initial penetration and the body would absorb all the energy......mush organs.
