    Trigger Weight

I just bought a 110 non accu-trigger with plastic stock. I got it used and believe it to be 3-5 years old - SN F976xxx. The trigger is at 5.5 lbs right now with a little bit of a gritty feeling which I think will go away in time - I will NOT touch it with a stone!. I am going to adjust it with these instructions; http://savageshooters.com/SavageForu...c,19414.0.html.
My trigger does not have the sear engagement screw - what is the lowest trigger pull weight I should attempt? I have a Lyman digital gague.
Eventually I will replace the stock and install a Timney or rifle Basix trigger.

    Re: Trigger Weight

You should be able to get it down to at least 2 1/2 lbs and be safe. When you gete it down whee you think it is OK, slam the bolt closed several times and again with the bolt closed rap the butt on the floor a few tiemes to be sure it wont slam fire on you.The gritty feel may just be crap on the moving parts. blow it out with a blast from a can of WD-40 and try it. After adjusting, degrease the screws and put some nail polish on the threads to prevent them from backing out.
