    Is there a difference?

Does a heavy barrel make a lot of difference in accuracy for the hunter, or even the casual shooter? By casual I mean non-competitive. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.

If you are talking 1 shot at ranges less than say 500 yards then not at all. At ranges greater than that maybe. For hunting where a number of shots are taken (dogtown) yes the heavy barrel is better due to taking longer to heat up. The downside is it also takes longer to cool off. All this is provided you have worked up a proper load for said rifle.

Thank you Earl. I shoot as much as I can, time and funds allowing. I do not load my own. I shoot to stay proficient. I never shoot more than 300 yards. Thanks again for taking time to reply.
