Stevens 22-410 help

Hello all, new to the board and need help.

I have an old Stevens 22-410 (no serial number), the selector button on the side is gone. How hard is it to replace, I have found a replacement kit. Also have seen reference to swapping out the old hammer for a newer style with the selector in the hammer. Which method is easier and any tips on the replacement would be appreciated. Thanks

My first "real" gun was a Model 24 22/410 over under. I got it for Christmas about 1964 when I was seven years old. It has the selector switch on the hammer. I still have the gun and will never part with it.

Mine has the hammer selector. My Dad had it installed years ago and it works perfect.
