Dog Tracker Stock from Sharp Shooter Supply

Anyone out there using one? Opinions?

This is the rilfe I'm thinking of having them build for me.

Savage 12 Target Action provided by customer (left feed right eject, 3 screws, single shot)
    $526.00
Dog Tracker Stock (Desert Sunset) 324.00
    Pillar Bedded
    Glass bedded w/DEVCON 90.00
BRUX Large Shank Target 30” usable 405.00 + 20.00 (for 2 extra inches)
    1:10
    .308 Win
    11o evenly tapered crown
    Matte finish*
    Fluting 125.00
    Action Screws 13.00
    Assembly 50.00
    True/Time action 125.00
    Total $1,678.00

That seems pretty inexpensive for what amounts to a custom build.

I have a Dog Tracker on a 6mmBR. I purchased it when they were first released. If I had it to do again, I think I would go with the original Long Range Bench Rest. No particular reason, just like the look of the original.

I have a model 12 left port, right eject action with a 26 inch Brux heavy barrel chambered in 6.5x47L sitting in a Dogtracker stock. Love the stock. It rides the bags well front and rear. With this stock and the weight of the rifle there is no twisting of the rifle due torque. Squeeze off the round and slide the rifle back into position and watch the cross hairs go back to the point of aim.

Is the forearm longer than a normal stock, like Shehane Tracker, McMillan Tooley MBR, Manners F-Class, PR&T Lowboy, etc.?

I have a Savage PTA with a Shilen barrel on a Dog Tracker stock. If I buy another stock, I see no reason to get it from anyone but SSS.

The whole purpose of the Dog Tracker is to reduce torquing in the bags with faster twist barrels. A 1-10" twist in a .308 isn't "fast for caliber" so you really wouldn't see much benefit over the standard Long Range Benchrest.

You have to admit the "barrel offset" in the forearm is very cool. Looks like the only place they're available is from SSS?

I have one comming for my RBLP in 6.5x55AI and a 32" Shilen HP barrel (no nut). Just spoke to Lisa and is being packaged up tonight so should have it in Australia in 2-4 wks as is coming via a dealer. Mine is the Rosewood/Rosewood/Brown that black one looks sweet.
