Got my Leupold bases, rings and VX-3 3.5-10x40 mounted this afternoon, all matte black. I like the look of the matte on the stainless, wasn't sure I would. Have a bunch of varieties of ammo to try out, hopefully this weekend.
my model 11 .243 really likes the factory Hornady Superformance 95grain SST's. Shoots them .5 to .6 for 3 shots if I let it cool a minute or so between shots.

My .250 Sav. in New 14. Am Classic is a tack driver and one of my fav. deer rifles and bolt rifles to shoot.
Can't beat a 250 savage. My favorite caliber.
Im with you, love this rifle, caliber, etc. ! Killed several deer w/ it, its accurate, attractive, etc. etc.
Not to mention an absolute pleasure to shoot. What bullet and velocity are you getting out of yours? I run the 115 Berger out of mine at 2800. Shot a coues deer with it last year at 662 yards.
Wow 600+ yds. thats amazing shooting. I use:Rem brass, WLR primers, H4895 35.x gr (safe in mine) 22" barrel, Sierra 100gr. Game king. I get 3005fps. Kills deer dead. 1 shot all the time. Im afraid it hasen't been that impressive distance, 100yds or under, All 1 shot kills, no noise, recoil, etc. Only thing I don't like is its so good looking wood, I don't want to scratch it up getting in and out of tree stand. How do the Bergers work? I have some 110gr. Accubonds that look good, just havnet used them yet. I got a deal for like $18/ box at midway about 2 years ago on the SGK's and it liked them. So, I'll be using them for awhile. It also liked the 75gr. horn vmax. Not sure what to shoot w/ that though. Im not a stalker hunter, so It was fun to shoot them though. I have 100gr. Nos Bal tips, 90gr. Sierra Hollow point Varm boat tail, etc. havent shot yet either. It just liked the SGK's so well.
The Bergers are outstanding bullets and they perform on game exceptionally well and shoot great. I have a Adams and Bennet 24" barrel screwed on a Model 110 Action with a rifle basix trigger set to 2 pounds I use as my hunting rig. I honestly dont know why I own any other rifles this is the only rifle I ever shoot. I am using Lake City Match Brass I made out of some .308 cases loaded with 32.2gr of IMR 4064 with the 115s. My coyote load is 36gr of IMR 4064 under a 85gr Nosler Ballistic Tip that chronos at 3380fps and produces half inch groups at 100 yards. I have used this load on ferral hogs with drop dead results as well. I have yet to try a bullet this gun doesn't like, it shoots the 100gr Sierras really well too but the B.C on the Bergers just can't be beat. I wish that they would offer someting in the 85 and 95gr range as well.

Does the 115's due to the length get down into the powder area w/ the standard throat? Whats our OAL? Mine ends up at like 2.50". I would love to have a little more freebore. I don't think I have a pic of mine. Its nice wood, etc. You can't beat that caliber, for real. Its amazing, just a little pop, yet its a good, deer killing, flat shooting rifle.
What powder have you found that the 115 Bergers like?
I end up with a c.o.a.l. of 2.635 with the 115 Bergers with a 20 thousandths jump to the lands. I use IMR 4064 with the 115 load as well, my gun loves that stuff.
Well finally made it out to the range today. It really likes the Hornady 95 gr SSTs, the Custom and Super-performance both put in .75" 3 shot groups at 100 yards. While I was out I was able to hit some steel targets at 200 and 300 as well. Can't say enough about how much I like the Accu-trigger.
very nice! Those 95grain superformance SST's should do a number on a deer. I am looking forward to trying them out this year in mine.
How can you not like the 250-3000 or the .300 savage,which is a highly underated cartridge which unfortunatly was overshadowed by the .308 winny.The government was going to adopt the .300 savage at one time and was doing trials and experiments with the savage chamberings. Newton who developed alot of savage cartridges was way ahead of his time. Didnt mean to hijack this thread,just have passion for the savage name.
