i would advise a Deer carrier & rig up a receiver hitch if you don't have one.

Maybe I am missing something but I don't see what you shot. I see a small deer laying on your hood that I can only assume you used for bait to get the big one in but I don't see the big one.

    Just kidding. Nice deer. Congrats!

I am more impressed by your sausage making skills than by your marksmanship. A dead deer is a dead deer. Kielbasa is a thing of beauty.

    Re: Mule deer

Nice deer man. I just got my first Ca mulie, but he's a young feller compared to yours (my post on Etip performance).

I have a question about the pigs and the sausage. In the one pic I see the pigs eating. Are they after acorns? If so, do they have a preference to which ones?

I assume you made the sausage yourself? I have mine at the butcher shop (cheddar and jalapenos ;D), but plan on doing it myself from now on. Any recommendations on equipment?

For several years when I would go bowhunting with my brother in Ohio, we boned the meat ourselves and took it to the butcher there. He made a similar sausage to the shop here, but where this shop does links (about 1/3lb each) and are uncooked, the Ohio shop made them in precooked 3lb rolls. Have you ever done this or seen it done? I like the precooked idea better because ya just heat up some slices in the microwave, and put them on a Ritz cracker. Great snack. The uncooked one I see could be the center piece of a whole meal though.

    Re: Mule deer

First off congrats on your deer, I know how hard it is to get one in Ca.
Feral hogs will eat anything, dry corn soaked in the water with some coca cola or beer for 3-5 days
You should know that its illegal in Ca to bait wild animals ;D

Sausage, it took me a year to figure it out ,I am not very bright ::), tried all kinds of electric grinders and they all choked on wild game meat, I am talking about ones that not coast a fortune , so finely found this guy with his idea of the hunters meat grinder, followed his advise ,coast me 200$ and got my self a made yourself supper grinder/stuffer. 300lb of meat an hour

plus he has some great sausage recipes
this guys I use for casing and seasoning A+

    Re: Mule deer

Sounds like a y'all got a pig problem. In CA are pigs a game animal or are they a pest that can be eliminated whenever? I mean is there a hunting season on them or can you go get rid of them at will?

    Re: Mule deer

It a game animal , have to buy a tag,we have a groving problem in Ca, but it not like in Texas or Florida, so we have restrictions 1. no night hunting.2 no traps.3 no bait.
We can hunt pigs all year long,10 pigs per hunter ;D
