    Model 12 trigger

New to the sight; I bought a savage model 12 in stainless steel (has a crummy plastic stock) The receiver at the front scope mount is round, the receiver at the back scope mount is flat. The trigger sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the best aftermarket trigger?
Brownells has a trigger I never heard of , Sharps Shooter Supply adjustable from 12oz to 32 oz Steel housing laser cut part.
And the Rifle Basix #1 adjustable from 12oz to 36oz
Are there any others to choose from?
    Best regards,
    Grit

    Re: Model 12 trigger

If it is a used rifle and has th old 3 screw trigger, it can be adjusted to a good hunting pull wgt. Search the FAQ's here for instructions. Not difficult. Any of the triggers you mentioned including the Timney would be OK.

    Re: Model 12 trigger

    Welcome to the site,
Sharp Shooters Supply, (SSS) was the first company to make a aftermarket trigger for the Savage rifle. In fact Savage use to install the trigger you are looking at in their upper line guns before they developed the accu-trigger. They are the leader in aftermarket parts develop for the Savage rifle.

The rifle Basix sav 1 trigger will not adjust down to 12 oz, their lowest advertised weight is 1 lbs or 16 oz. To go lower you would have to go to the Sav 2 which is advertised to have a pull weight of 3lbs to 4oz. but it is more money.

If you use the search feature on the web site you will find hundreds of comments and comparisons of all the aftermarket triggers. A few results

    Re: Model 12 trigger

It is a three screw trigger. I am going to use this rifle for F-Class mid range and I would like to know if anyone has used the Evolution trigger by Sharps Shooter Supply. I understand that the barreled action has to be sent in to be trued and that this is an actual bench rest quality trigger. Has anyone of you all ever used one and what do you think of it? I would offer the three screw for sale after I make a decision on a replacement trigger.

I will second that, it's better then the Jewel w/bottom safety I had on a Neiska action. I'll bet if you blow hard enough it would fire.
