    ER Shaw 6.5 group buy

I jumped on this deal and ordered a 6.5x55 and to say that I am pleased with it is an understatement. I am shooting some remarkable groups with Berber Bullets and cant wait to try them out this deer season. How about the rest you all, what kind of results are you all getting ?

I just ordered a 6.5x55 barrel a few minutes ago. How long ago did you order and how long before delivery. Was it the varmint contour?

It took about 8 weeks and it was the factory contour.

ill ask the question here as it looks like i do not have the privileges to do so in your thread 260 rem; what does a varmint contour mean? how does its weight/contour compare to other options?

    Hey260

Its a shooter now I'm thinking of a 6.5x284 or 6.5 Creedmore. These are some awesome barrels.

I've been dreaming of a 6.5 Swede barrel for my 116 FCSS.

Will the Accustock on the 116 FCSS Weather Warrior fit around a varmint contour barrel?

Bought the sporter barrel a while back in 6.5-284 and swapped out the 25-06 barrel on the Axis. Took it out yesterday with H4831sc and 140Bergrs,Amaxes and 110 grain GS bullets=Everything went inside an inch@ 150yards and the Amaxes went into one ragged hole. Not bad for just throwing loads together.......Specialy out of a $275 gun with a $112 barrel.

Yes sir it sure did. About the only thing the axis has in common with the old standard shank Savage/Stevens!
I told myself when I bought the Axis it was not getting molested.....other than reworking the trigger. BUT . That sporter barrel looked very out of place on any of my other riggs. I only have one lite savage= the Axis. The 25-06 was not shooting too bad for what it is but man alive does that 6.5-284 Shaw barrel shoot!!! It is however one dirty/copper fouling pig! Only have 25 rounds down the barrel so far so it may very well smooth out?

The 116 FCSS stock is for a factory contour barrel and will not fit a varmint contour barrel without widening out the barrel channel.

    I was afraid of that.

The next obvious question is, is there an aftermarket stock that will fit a 116 FCSS action and a varmint contour barrel?

I'm pretty sure the Bell & Carlson Durramax will work but I would give Stocky's a call to make sure. The Durramax is a nice stock and is not very expensive.

I checked on the Bell & Carlson Durramax and found those stocks only work on the older, non-center-fed magazine rifles. They don't work with the new center-fed versions.

The Duramaxx will work but you will have to do some minor work to fit the magazine. You can find info on this tread:

Re: ER Shaw 6.5 group buy

I am very tempted to jump on this group buy. I have a couple of questions/requests

    1) What kind of crown do these have (ie 11 degree)?
    2) What is the finish?
    3) These are all small shank, correct?
    4) What loads are you guys using for .260?

    Requests:

    1) Can I get some screen shots?

    Thanks

Re: ER Shaw 6.5 group buy

I just ordered a 260 barrel on the group buy, and was wondering how any of the previous varmint barrels were shooting? Does anyone have any range reports, or a link to a thread where this may have already been covered...
Also.. Does anyone know what reamer they use? I hope it is throated for the 140 class of bullets. Does anyone with the sporter 260 have any coal info of a loaded round they could share?

These have a 11 degree crown, polished finish, and are small shank.

    Hey Lance,

Any updates on these? No rush just curious if they are going to ship out with the 6mm/224 barrels or if these will roll some time later.

    Thanks

I haven't received a new ETA from Shaw yet so I don't want to speculate. I do know for sure they won't be shipping with the 6mm/224 barrels since those should be on the way Wednesday. As soon as I can get a new ETA on the 6.5's I'll post an update.

    Regards,
    Lance
