I saw a brand new heavy barreled Stevens 200

I went to Gander Mtn today. In the rack they had something I had never seen.

They had Stevens 200's with HEAVY barrels. The barrels looked to be 26"-28" long with a straight contour. They definately weren't 22" like a normal Stevens 200. The stocks were the usual gray colored stocks but opened up for the heavy barrel. The calibers were 223, 308 and 7mm-08. I wasn't able to see because of the locks but I suspect they were standard triggers.

I can't for the life of me remember the price, it was either $399 or $499. I do remember saying to myself that it was a deal and that would be my next purchase.

I've seen it at Gander Mtn as well. I believe the barrel is 26" long with a 'varmint' contour (same length and contour as the Savage 12 FV). The trigger is the standard Stevens trigger.

    Is it like a 12FV?

It resembles the 12 FV. The barrel appears to be the same length and contour. However the trigger is the standard Stevens trigger, and the stock is gray like the regular Stevens instead of black like the 12 FV. Not sure if the bolt handle is small (like the regular Stevens) and large (like the 12 FV). I think it is small but don't remember for sure.

BTW, the trigger went out this morning.

    Thanks buddy!
$399 would be ok. I paid just under $350 for a 12FV floor model package rifle w/ 4-12x scope last year at Dicks.

I checked Dick's yesterday they had the same package deal on sale for $349 until Saturday. I thought to myself, WOW. They had them in SA and LA calibers.

If you can get a floor model and its the last one, I have negotiated 10% off the price, so it ends up being a little under the listed sale price out the door. Not bad.- PS I meant $349- less $35+ tax= a good deal.
